Mom and Dad took me skating again last night. We went to the rink by Grandma Jan and Grandpa Bob's house. It was snowing/sleeting at the time, so the ice was covered with the white stuff. Turns out that's a good thing for me. It offered just enough "traction" for me to sprout wings (and independence) and take off across the ice sans parental (or any other type of) intervention. Meggie tried to hold my hands to help me but I just told her, "No, my," meaning, "No, I can do this by myself cuz I'm a hotshot like that". Everybody thought I would only last 10 minutes, so we brought two cars to the rink and the plan was that Mom and Aunt Jenni would take me back when I pooped out. I showed them. Aunt Jenni went to the truck after about 15 minutes, and I kept Mom out on the ice (following at my beck and call, intervening only to place me back on my skates when I had fallen down) for another 15 minutes. I wouldn't call what I do "skating" but I do walk across the ice and sometimes even glide a little. And when I get a little off balance, I'm able to recover about 50% of the time. Pretty darn good for 20 months old and only my third time on the ice.
Of course, being my parents, they neglected to bring any form of digital recording device to document the event. We'd like to go again today, but with a projected high of only 7 degrees, that's unlikely to happen. But when we do get out on the ice again, I will be sure the proper digital recording devices are with us.
Peace Out!
